I was standing at the Southampton Boat show last year with Gill Gould, the agency's founding partner (aka my mum) we realised it was the 35th year she had worked at the event. We’re pretty sure no other agency has such a depth of experience and we're proud to have been at the helm (excuse the pun) of some of the UK’s most successful marine branding, marketing and public relations work over the last three and a half decades.

Boating mad
As an island and maritime nation, the leisure and trade marine sectors have always been of huge importance to the UK. Our rivers waterways, ports and marinas connect us to the wider world. A big part of our DNA at Carswell Gould is the marine industry - it's where we started - and many of the people that build and sell products and services in this sector are our good friends. 
A marine marketing agency 
As an agency nestled on the south coast of England in Southampton, Carswell Gould has always been closely involved in the marine sector and our work over the last few decades has given us amazing experiences with brilliant people and wonderful businesses - both on and off the water, sail and power.

We're great in a race, the perfect partners for a record attempt, we know how to tie a bowline, but most of all we understand how to use technology and marketing to help marine and maritime business win. 


A few fond marine memories  

  • Founder Gill Gould helped develop the brand and communications for Douglas Gill, Henri Lloyd, International Paint, Pains Wessex and many more. In fact, Fairline was Carswell Gould’s very first client back in the early 90s.
  • Creative Director, Ed Gould 'cut his teeth' working boat shows and holding ropes for the likes of Cranchi - this teenage graft helped him understand how the leisure marine market worked and what the customer wanted (it also introduced him to the Guinness Bar) 
  • Spending days on end on board a rib etc in the North Sea. Ed Gould, our Creative Director put his marine experience to great use when we delivered the hugely successful GORE-TEX Arctic Challenge
  • Our creative team recently developed branding and video work for RIBEYE. 
  • Ed working at Cowes Week with Dick Johnson, Chris Carnegy and a host of others to run the Cowes Week radio.
  • Working with Omni Capital and SUZUKI to launch SUZUKI Marine Finance
  • Our work with National Boat Shows helping deliver the Southampton Boat Show over the years
  • 'Back and in Black', we re-launched Westerly Yachts, promoting its sexy carbon fiber looks to challenge the perception of the brand
  • Working with the innovative Boatshed.com we developed launches, PR and B2B campaigns to help them grow their business and develop new ideas
  • Our huge pride in helping the logistics company PSP to develop its marine proposition when becoming the first-ever name sponsor of the Southampton Boat Show and an active force in the industry. Working together we helped PSP to achieve their sponsorship objectives, leading them to extend their sponsorship significantly. 
  • Producing video and other creative content for Cobra Ribs 
  • Helping Southampton ABP redefine its brand, building on PR success, developing internal communications channels and importantly its reputation for being a positive force in the UK.
  • Working with City College Southampton to position its iconic Marine Skills Centre as key to the industry for the skills, knowledge and experience its companies require to compete globally.
