Award-winning integrated marketing agency Carswell Gould played a pivotal role in shaping Southampton’s economic future at the inaugural SOGROW conference, held on Wednesday 8 October 2025 at The Spark, Solent University.
The landmark business symposium brought together more than 140 of the city’s most forward-thinking business leaders to explore new opportunities, drive collaboration, and set a strategic course for Southampton’s economic development as a global growth city.
Carswell Gould was proud to support Hampshire Chamber of Commerce in delivering the event, bringing its marketing and event expertise to the launch and working closely with key stakeholders including Paris Smith, PwC, Southampton City Council, Venturefest South, ABP, Solent University and Business South.
Carswell Gould’s Creative Director, Ed Gould, took centre stage at the event, leading the programme as host. The event’s keynote address was delivered by Andy Haldane, a prominent public speaker, author, and best known for his former role as Chief Economist at the Bank of England. His insights into investment, sustainability and transformation inspired attendees to think boldly about Southampton’s future as a thriving, globally competitive business hub and to embrace the forthcoming regional devolution as a ‘once in a generation opportunity to craft a local plan and industrial strategy at real scale’.
Ross McNally, Chief Executive and Executive Chairman of Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, added: “The inaugural SOGROW was a landmark moment for Southampton and its business community. It was about more than discussion; it was about shaping the future of our city through shared ambition, bold ideas and practical collaboration. We were delighted to have the support of a number of local businesses to help make this conference happen and I would like to thank Carswell Gould who have been integral to the whole process.”
The day featured inspiring keynote speeches, strategic discussions and exclusive networking opportunities designed to spark innovation and position Southampton for long-term growth.
Speaking after the event, Ed Gould, Creative Director at Carswell Gould, said:
“It’s a privilege to support initiatives that create real impact. SOGROW represents a unique opportunity to bring the South’s brightest business leaders together to shape a bold, prosperous future for Southampton. We’re proud to be playing our part in making it a success.”
Carswell Gould’s leadership and active involvement at SOGROW builds on the agency’s recent award of ‘Growth Catalyst of The Year’ and reflects its commitment to supporting transformational initiatives that deliver real benefits to the region’s economy and business ecosystem. This is also demonstrated by Carswell Gould spearheading the Venturefest South programme which culminates in the Festival of Innovation at the Utilita Bowl on the 12th November. This has become key date in the calendar for ambitious, scaling businesses across the region. The festival brings together innovators, investors, entrepreneurs, and supporters to celebrate and accelerate growth.
