Integrated marketing agency Carswell Gould celebrates a very special milestone this month – 30 years in business.
Established by Gill Gould in Southampton in 1993, Carswell Gould has grown into a highly respected and successful enterprise, attracting regional, national and global clients and winning a host of prestigious awards along the way.
Carswell Gould celebrates its 30th anniversary on an all-time high, with Gill still at the helm as the company’s Chairwoman, alongside her son, Creative Director Ed Gould and Managing Director Gareth Miller.
Launching Carswell Gould in 1993 was challenging for Gill, who was a single mum of two young boys and had her application for a bank overdraft to support her small marketing enterprise turned down.
Undaunted, Gill pushed on, building the business from scratch, and was later joined by her son Ed who established the business’s creative studio and web teams. Together they grew the business, taking on more challenging and expansive projects.
Carswell Gould has grown over the years to meet clients’ needs and keep pace with the ever-evolving digital and creative marketing landscape. Its integrated marketing specialists deliver outstanding solutions through a combination of strategy, creativity, technology, and communications.
“Marketing excellence has always been the hallmark of Carswell Gould which has enabled us to boast a client portfolio that includes Marks and Spencer, Suzuki, Fairline, Women’s Prize for Fiction, Dame Martha Lane Fox, Bravissimo and so many others,” says Gill.
“My real pride comes when I look back over 30 years at the range of our wonderful clients and the part we played in their world, from start-ups to established brands. I relished every minute we helped them to grow.”
Gill says she regards the 30-year milestone with a mixture of pride and relief at surviving the vagaries of time.
She adds: “Looking back, I can’t really believe I was brave enough to launch a new company from get-go. The difficulties at the time were immense, but opportunities are always there to be grabbed and run with.”

To mark its 30th birthday, the agency is sharing some ‘Pearls of Wisdom’ that it has learnt over the three decades it has been in business. These can be seen on a dedicated webpage and will be shared throughout the year on Carswell Gould’s social channels.
