May 1, 1976 was the greatest sporting day Southampton has ever seen. Southampton Football Club beat off stiff competition from Manchester United to win 1-0 at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup final, clinched by an 83rd-minute goal by Bobby Stokes. It's a day the city will never forget.

To celebrate the upcoming 40th anniversary of the match, Carswell Gould supported a press conference that saw legendary Southampton FC manager, Lawrie McMenemy and champions Nick Holmes, Jim Steel, Hugh Fisher and Paul Bennett reunite in front of the cameras and flashbulbs once again.

CG pulled out all the stops to organise press to attend the conference, which announced a series of events taking place in 2016. These include an open-top bus tour of the city's streets, reminiscent of the victory tour in '76. The streets are sure to be turned yellow and blue once again as the team parade in front of young and old and introduce the legends to a new generation of Saints fans.

Mike Osman, event organiser, said:

"The 40th anniversary event next year will celebrate an incredible day of football in this city and I really hope the younger generation of Saints fans and people in Southampton will enjoy getting involved.

"It's important to remember that these men didn't play for money, they played because they love the game. At the time, Southampton FC were called no-hopers. Nobody expected us to win but we beat them against the odds.

"We really want people in Southampton to be able to show the respect Lawrie and the team deserve. The commemorations will also be a fantastic chance to remember Bobby Stokes and Peter Osgood, who are no longer with us."

Laura Downton, PR account manager and associate partner, said:

"We're putting in a good word for the open-bus tour to pass by the CG offices because this is an incredible celebration that we can't wait to be a part of. We were proud to play a part in the press conference, and it's a great example of how CG can provide fantastic results with short notice."
