New Marketing Operating System from Carswell Gould

Carswell Gould has launched MOS (Marketing Operating System), a new way of helping growing businesses run more effective marketing without the cost or complexity of building large in-house teams.

MOS is aimed at owner-led and mid-sized businesses where marketing has often evolved gradually, leaving responsibility concentrated in one or two people and activity vulnerable to disruption. The system provides access to senior marketing leadership, structured planning and specialist execution through a flexible, outsourced model.

The approach reflects a growing appetite for alternative marketing structures. Carswell Gould has recently been reappointed by Elliotts Builders Merchants as a retained marketing and growth partner, building on a successful previous relationship between the two businesses.

Under the partnership, Carswell Gould provides strategic planning, campaign development and senior marketing leadership, operating as an integrated extension of the Elliotts team rather than a traditional agency supplier. Managing Director Gareth Miller has been appointed Fractional Marketing Director, heading up marketing activity and supporting long-term investment decisions.

“Many businesses are spending significant sums on marketing without a clear system behind it,” said Gareth Miller. “MOS gives them clarity, consistency and access to a much broader skillset than most could realistically support internally.”

Unlike traditional retainers, MOS allows businesses to choose the channels and support they need — across paid, earned and owned media — and scale activity as priorities change.

Carswell Gould believes the model offers a more resilient and cost-effective alternative to hiring in-house teams, particularly in a challenging recruitment market.
